Mapping of IsoPaperSubstrate to grade (Media/MediaIntent)

    XMLWordPrintable

    Details

      Description

$$$* RP: is there a 1-1 mappimg from
ISOPaperSubstrate to grade - if so we
should deprecate grade and define the
      mapping.

        Draft

<instruction: 1.x only - deprecated attributes are removed in 2.0>

Modification note: starting in JDF 1.5, @Grade interacts
        with @ISOPaperSubstrate.

Deprecation Note: Use ISOPaperSubstrate and apply tabe ##ref see appendix
        ISOPaperSubstrate ? ... ...
Note: here in no direct mapping of the 8 values defined in
ISO12647-2:2013 to the 5 paper grade values define in
ISO12647-2:2004 and earlier. If a legacy implementation
requires such mapping, Then the following table MAY be
        applied.

Note: See table ##ref see appendix for a mapping to the paper grade values defined in ISO12647-2:2004

ISO12647 provides a rough classification of paper with 5 classes, which is generally referred to as paper grade. [ISO12647-2:2013]was updated in 2013 and a new set of 8 standard papers was defined that are more appropriate for paper types that are used today. The following table provides a rough and non-normative translation between the two standard sets:

ISOPaperSubstrate ? ... The paper substrate type of the medium from "PS1" through
        "PS8".
@ISOPaperSubstrate supersedes @Grade and adds new
values to allow for improved papers.
If a workflow supports @ISOPaperSubstrate, and both
@Grade and @ISOPaperSubstrate are present, it
        SHALL use @ISOPaperSubstrate.

@ISOPaperSubstrate SHALL specify the type of paper material is defined in
accordance with the print substrate set forth in [ISO12647-2:2013].
        Allowed value is from: ISOPaperSubstrate
Note: See Section F.1, Paper Grade for a mapping to the paper
        grade values defined in ISO12647-2:2004
BackISOPaperSubstrateBack ? ... The paper substrate type of the medium from "PS1" through
        "PS8".
        @ISOPaperSubstrateBack supersedes @BackGrade
and adds new values to allow for improved papers.

@ISOPaperSubstrate SHALL specify the back surface of paper material is defined in
accordance with the print substrate set forth in [ISO12647-2:2013].If not specified, the value of @ISOPapersubstrate SHALL be applied.
Allowed values are from: @##ref appendixISOPaperSubstrate.
