Appendix F.2 Paper Grade
ISO12647 provides a rough classification of paper with 5 classes, which is generally referred to as paper grade. [ISO12647-2:2013]was updated in 2013 and a new set of 8 standard papers was defined that are more appropriate for paper types that are used today. The following table provides a rough and non-normative translation between the two standard sets:

ISOPaperSubstrate ? | ... | The paper substrate type of the medium from "PS1" through "PS8". @ISOPaperSubstrate supersedes @Grade and adds new values to allow for improved papers. If a workflow supports @ISOPaperSubstrate, and both @Grade and @ISOPaperSubstrate are present, it SHALL use @ISOPaperSubstrate. @ISOPaperSubstrate SHALL specify the type of paper material is defined in accordance with the print substrate set forth in [ISO12647-2:2013]. Allowed value is from: ISOPaperSubstrate Note: See Section F.1, Paper Grade for a mapping to the paper grade values defined in ISO12647-2:2004 |
BackISOPaperSubstrateBack ? | ... | The paper substrate type of the medium from "PS1" through "PS8". @ISOPaperSubstrateBack supersedes @BackGrade and adds new values to allow for improved papers. @ISOPaperSubstrate SHALL specify the back surface of paper material is defined in accordance with the print substrate set forth in [ISO12647-2:2013].If not specified, the value of @ISOPapersubstrate SHALL be applied. Allowed values are from: @##ref appendixISOPaperSubstrate. |

Describes the allowed values for the selection of a printing substrate
Attributes with a data type of ISOPaperSubstrate describe a print substrate according to [ISO12647-2:2013].
